What if I told you some of the most important conversations you can have - almost nobody is having? Let Tara Teng give you a new perspective on "social justice", as we talk about:
- Feminist Economics - what is it and why it really matters to you
- Human Trafficking - the fastest growing criminal economy so many are suffering in, but very few are talking about, and how we can talk to our children about it
- How to draw socially and ethically conscious consumers to your brand, and other steps you can take to help with equality for everyone
- How true feminism is not women vs men, it's something much better
This is a wide-ranging conversation that opened my eyes and is sure to enlighten us all!

Ron here, aka "Elaine's Husband". As you know, 2020 has been a rough year for - basically the whole planet. For Elaine, she really has a passion for helping other women entrepreneurs and one way she has done that is by meeting with a local group of them in person, for about the past 5 years. And of course that is not happening anymore! So that's got her down a little bit. And today is her birthday, so I reached out via email a few days ago to about a dozen of her close circle of female entrepreneurs, and almost immediately I got 10 heartfelt messages stating birthday wishes and the impacts Elaine has had on these women's lives. So, since I have control of publishing her podcast, I thought why not put them out there for you to hear? Kleenex optional, I know Elaine will be bawling.

Oh. My. Goodness. I have been searching all my life for a parenting expert who is at the same time a practicing Registered Psychologist, and will also use words like "grumpy bumps" and "yelly yells". Dr. Vanessa Lapointe is that person!
I adore Dr. Vanessa (ever since I learned she was recommending my products from Easy Daysies to her clients), and in this conversation she does not disappoint! We cover several kinds of discipline and determine what works and what does not:
- Timeouts
- Reward charts
- Consequences
- Grounding
- Removal of privileges
- Connection
Hint - only one of them works consistently and for the future benefit of your child!
These points are taken from Dr. Vanessa's brilliant book, Discipline Without Damage - How to get your kids to behave without messing them up.

It all started with a cup of tea while on vacation, and since then Tonia Jahshan and her husband Hatem have built a direct selling empire (like $20 million in annual sales big) in Sipology. Tonia slayed the Dragons on Dragons' Den (Canadian version of Shark Tank), was named the 2016 W100 female entrepreneur of the year for Canada, and she shares with us:
- How she turned her love of a new-found product into a successful company
- How it grew so fast her 5-year plan happened in 6 months
- Her advice for someone starting a similar business now
- How "self-care" can actually be counter-productive, and how actually care for yourself
- How she sought help in a very dark time (Tonia is an outspoken proponent of mental health initiatives)
- What her favorite tea for this year is!
- And more!
You will fall in love with this incredible lady, whose #1 advice is - be kind. See, nice guys do finish first!

Wow wow wow! Let me say that the first book I read while in stroke recovery, and a book that changed my life, is "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" by New York Times Best-Selling author, Greg McKeown.
So when Greg agreed to be on the podcast, it was a dream come true for me and my husband Ron, so for the first time Ron sat in on the interview.
I am so proud of so many of the episodes on this podcast, but I believe this one has one of the best chances to change so many lives for the better. It. Is. A. Must. Listen.
From the book jacket of Essentialism:
Have you ever found yourself stretched too thin?
Do you sometimes feel overworked and underutilized?
Do you feel motion sickness instead of momentum?
Does your day sometimes get hijacked by someone else’s agenda?
Have you ever said “yes” simply to please and then resented it?
If you answered yes to any of these, the way out is the Way of the Essentialist.
I believe this describes most of the adult population in our society, including probably you and me! But there is a way out from the overwhelm and into meaningful productivity, and it is not as complicated or difficult as you may think.
Please listen to this podcast episode as many times as necessary to start applying the message.

Season 6 of the Elaine's Kitchen Table Podcast is here! But why was I off for 2 years?
F - Face - is it drooping?
A - Arms - can you raise both?
S - Speech - is it slurred or jumbled?
T - Time - to call 911 right away!
These are the symptoms I ignored / was ignorant of in April 2018 when I had a stroke.
I wasn't a stroke candidate - not old enough, not overweight, no high blood pressure, etc. Lots of stress yes, but I just didn't think it could happen to me.
Listen in as you hear my story, and you will know why my podcast was paused for 2 years! I am so blessed to be here today, with a large recovery, and I am thankful to speak on behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
